Hydrolyzed protein from horse blood – Research and applications

1. Introduction

Horses have long been valued for their economic contributions, particularly in agriculture. Beyond meat, milk, and bone marrow, horses offer unique health benefits through their blood. Since 1974, the Military Medical Academy’s Research and Production Center (K60) has been investigating the biological properties of horse blood, with a particular focus on horse blood hydrolysate.

Researchers have successfully extracted Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG), a hormone used to enhance fertility in livestock. Additionally, they have developed specific antisera for preventing and treating diseases such as tetanus, rabies, and snakebites.

Of particular interest is horse blood hydrolysate, a nutrient-rich solution containing a complete amino acid profile. This hydrolysate has been extensively studied and applied in various fields.

2. Analysis of Horse Blood Hydrolysate

Produced from the blood of healthy horses, horse blood hydrolysate undergoes a rigorous purification process. The resulting hydrolysate powder is rich in essential amino acids, trace minerals, and is sterile.

3. Applications of Horse Blood Hydrolysate Numerous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of horse blood hydrolysate in various applications:

  • Burn Treatment: Accelerates healing and promotes skin graft acceptance.
  • Malnutrition: Improves nutritional status in malnourished children and adults.
  • Radiation Protection: Protects against radiation damage.
  • General Health: Enhances overall health and well-being.

4. Conclusion and Commercialization Numerous research studies have confirmed the benefits of horse blood hydrolysate in promoting health and recovery. Recognizing the potential of this product, the Military Medical Academy’s Research and Production Center collaborated with Ha Tay Pharmaceutical Company to commercialize horse blood hydrolysate-based products. These products, such as Bosunamin and Bosunamin kids, are now available on the market to support public health.
